These next few weeks are so exciting with the Playstation 4 and Xbox One just right around the corner. These are just a few things I wanted to get off my chest in regards to the new console launch:
I think it’s fine if you have a preference of which console(s)/brand(s) you align yourself with, but to tear other people down with a hate and bitterness because of your “fanboyism” is really really cruel, especially if you think of the situation in the grand scheme of things. The passion and admiration can be appreciated and is often enjoyable to see people’s enthusiasm behind their love for a system, but please don’t go sledgehammering a system because the one you love the other system that much more. I mean really, some one else in the world could have enjoyed that console, but no longer can because it’s one more Xbox One/Playstation 4 destroyed, especially in holiday season where these things will be ridiculously hard to get your hands on if you didn’t pre order.
I used to be a die hard Xbox fan boy, so rude to all of my Playstation friends back in middle school, even up until high school. Over the years I’ve come to appreciate both consoles. Sony has many great exclusives and has nearly a decade over Microsoft in the console market. They have given me some incredible adventures from Crash Bandicoot, Sly Cooper, Uncharted, Final Fantasy, Shadow Of The Colossus, Ico, you name it. And for being the new kid on the block, the Xbox brand has put out some incredible titles from Halo, Gears Of War, Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic, Alan Wake and even introducing the Bioshock and Mass Effect franchises to the console space. Both have given us amazing experiences and have influenced each other for the better from what I’ve seen. Both have had their mishaps from the infamous Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death that plagued Microsoft and Sony’s numerous hackings leading to a ton of identity theft that even affected some of my friends for months.
I understand that us gamers are very passionate about our games and our culture, so can we just agree that having Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo around is just awesome? Without each other, there wouldn’t be any competition to outdo each other. This competition gives us, the gamers, better games and I think there’s something to be said about that.
